Up we go!!

The brochure states that it takes 38 seconds in the elevator from the ground floor of the Rialto Towers to the Observation Deck on the 55th floor.  Please step inside and be my guests.

"That took exactly 43.37 seconds," pipes in a familiar voice.

Familiar to me that is.  Sorry, I forgot to mention that my teenage daughter is doing this with us.  But there is always someone with a stop watch to disprove the printed facts, isn't there?  You know these teenagers ...

Enough of that.  Now, unblock your ears and out we step.

I know there are taller buildings in the world but at 253 metres in height the Rialto Towers on Collins Street is currently the tallest office building in the southern hemisphere.  Mind you, the AMP Tower in Sydney is taller but belongs to a different category, making it the tallest public building in the southern hemisphere.

ANZ building & others on northern side

Let's have a good look at Melbourne.  It's quite impressive up here with 360 degrees of uninterrupted views.  Perhaps we can even try the free-to-use telescopes for some close-ups.

Colonial 'all weather' Stadium on western side

Afterwards, you may wish to return to the ground floor to be entertained with a twenty minute video screening  of "Melbourne The Living City".  It is included in the ticket price.

Crown Towers Building on southern side

World Trade Centre, World Congress Centre then over Spencer Street Bridge to Melb. Exhibition Centre

AND if you don't like elevators you can always try the stairs ... all 1450 of them.

Just kidding ;-)

Flinders Street Station, Yarra River and Southgate Complex

Bridges & roads of southern Melbourne

"I'd like that," says the smiling teenage daughter, "good exercise!"

And she means every word of it.

AARGHHH!!!!!!
